Notezoo Daily News.  Missoula has a quality of life officer  that most residents aren’t aware of.  The officer is part of the Missoula Police Department.  The current quality of life officer, Dustin Delridge, is the third such officer in a program that has been in existence off and on since 2002.

Missoula Police Dept. Chief Mark Muir said the quality of life officer handles problems that aren’t really criminal and will usually involve dealing with problems in a neighborhood such as noisy parties.

Muir said he has changed some of the other duties of the quality control officer to include dealing with abandoned cars and also coordinate an internship program with University of Montana sociology students.

The quality of life officer would deal with complaints of a noisy party by going to the residence of the party to notify them of the problem and then on Monday morning returning to the residences to make sure everything is cleared up.  The officer can write tickets or make arrests, if necessary.

Officer Delridge, who attended college at Regis University, a Jesuit school in Denver, said his experiences at the school helped him build his belief system and his interest in working with people.

Delridge, who’s first police job was in Ridge, Colorado, said what he likes about his job is the variety every day and the excitement.  He added that Missoula is a great community that looks out for the concerns of its citizens.
